Notice of Cllr Vacancy Co-option: Expressions of Interest

FRATING PARISH COUNCIL – NOTICE OF CO‑OPTION

Frating Parish Council currently has two vacancies and is seeking to co‑opt local residents to join the Council.

The Parish Council plays an important role in representing the community and managing a wide range of local responsibilities. Co‑opted Councillors have the same duties and responsibilities as elected Councillors, and the role is both varied and rewarding.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

•      Be a qualifying Commonwealth/Irish/EU citizen

•      Be aged 18 or over

•      Meet the qualifications set out in Section 79 of the Local Government Act 1972

•      Not be disqualified under Section 80 of the same Act

It is the responsibility of each applicant to ensure they meet the legal requirements for office.

How to Apply

Please submit a written expression of interest (email accepted) including:

•      Your reasons for wishing to become a Councillor

•      Any relevant community or council experience

•      A brief recent career history

An Application for Co‑option Form must also be completed. This is available from the Parish Clerk.

Deadline & Selection

All applications and expressions of interest will be considered at the Parish Council meeting on

2nd February 2026.

Please note: canvassing current Council members will result in disqualification from the co‑option process.
